This new headquarters for Gas Strategies was used as an opportunity to reinvigorate the culture and working practices of this well-established company. The company leadership wanted to establish an open and stimulating environment where communication between teams came naturally. A series of workshops were held with staff to identify key concerns and this proved pivotal in devising the unusual layout. A spiralled open-plan space is surrounded by cellular meeting and break-out rooms. Open desking is provided via a series of ‘tables’ of various sizes where project groups assemble and evolve over time. The final space in the spiral is a quiet lounge, which forms a ‘klein’ link back to the start of the plan and the entrance lobby.
