Myrtle House

Myrtle House is a new-build home and office for a private client on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. The design takes advantage of a pre-formed site defined by the ruins of the client’s grandfathers house and mature sycamore grove and a gently sloping south facing garden. The plan twists to respond and connect with the garden to the south and the sea views to the east. The house will minimise energy ahead of current standards with high performance insulation and by incorporating solar collectors and ground source heat pumps. A plentiful supply of thinnings from the surrounding wood will fuel a boiler for heating and hot water.
